What Should a Managed IT Support Report Actually Tell You?
The service numbers that reveal whether an IT provider is preventing problems, resolving them efficiently and improving the environment.
A report should support a decision
Many monthly IT reports list ticket totals without explaining whether service is improving. Useful reporting connects activity to user experience, operational risk and the next action.
Response and resolution
Track answer time, first response, resolution and the age of open requests. Segment by priority so urgent incidents are not hidden inside an overall average.
First-time fix and repeat demand
A high first-time-fix rate usually means users recover more quickly. Repeat requests can reveal a training need, unstable application or underlying configuration problem.
Proactive work
Reporting should show patch compliance, endpoint health, backup success and tested recovery—not only reactive tickets.
Recommendations
The most important section is what happens next. Each material risk or improvement should have an owner, priority, estimated effort and business reason.
